This is an essential step, so be thorough in your research. What are your competitors doing? How can you succeed against them – what is it that you do that ensures your success as opposed to theirs?

Describe the products or services that you offer and how the customer benefits from your offering. What is the lifecycle of your product? Detail how the product provides a benefit to your client/customer.

How are you selling/marketing your product?
Do you have a marketing strategy? How will you attract, acquire, and retain clients/customers? Describe the way in which your sales process and cycle occurs [in detail]. Be sure to have a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy.

Write a business plan
Once you have an idea of what business you want to start, it’s a good idea to write a business plan. This will be the foundation for your company. It will show what your business will offer, your market analysis, detail your target market, what customers can expect, how you stand out [competitive advantage] in your market– you get the picture.
